Russia's Elena Dementieva has beaten U.S. Open tennis champion Kim Clijsters of Belgium to reach the semifinals of the Porsche Grand Prix women's hard-court tournament in Filderstadt, Germany.
Dementieva, the fifth seed, knocked the second-seeded Belgian out of the tournament in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-2). In the semifinals, the Russian plays the winner of a match between compatriot Nadia Petrova and third seed Amelie Mauresmo of France.
Meanwhile, top-seeded Lindsay Davenport of the United States scored a three-set win over former French Open champion Anastasia Myskina of Russia (6-2, 3-6, 6-1). Davenport takes on Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, a straight-set winner over Flavia Pennetta of Italy (6-3, 6-4).
