Bush Honors Soldiers' Sacrifice in Weekly Radio Address

update

George W. Bush
President George Bush used his Saturday weekly radio address to focus on the sacrifices made by members of America's armed services.

President Bush noted that this year is the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, a conflict that claimed more than 400,000 American lives.

Mr. Bush said a new generation is now making its own sacrifice on behalf of peace and freedom. He mentioned by name two American soldiers killed in Iraq who had written to their loved ones that they were committed to their mission.

This is Memorial Day weekend in the United States, a day of remembrance for those who have died in service to the nation. The holiday will be observed on Monday.
