In the National League, Philadelphia slugger Bobby Abreu capped the Phillies' six-run seventh inning with a grand slam on the way to beating the Arizona Diamondbacks, 11-3, in Phoenix.
Other NL winners were the Marlins, Brewers, Reds, Nationals, Mets, Astros and Rockies.
The Florida Marlins got by the Cubs in Chicago, 7-5. The Milwaukee Brewers downed the visiting Atlanta Braves, 3-1. The Cincinnati Reds used two Ken Griffey homers to defeat the Pirates in Pittsburgh, 6-1. The Washington Nationals tripped up the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-1, in the nation's capital. New York pitcher Steve Trachsel allowed just two hits over eight innings in his first game since back surgery in March, giving the Mets a 1-0 win over the Giants in San Francisco. The Houston Astros trimmed the Dodgers in Los Angeles, 2-1. And the Colorado Rockies edged the Padres in San Diego, 4-3.
