The death toll from Japan's worst train crash in 40 years now stands at 95, and authorities believe the number of fatalities could reach 100 or more.
Rescuers in the western city of Amagasaki continued to pull more bodies out of the wreckage on Wednesday. Officials say dozens of people are still trapped, but hopes are fading that any are still alive.
Among the possible fatalities is the 23-year-old train driver at the center of the investigation. Railway officials say he had less than a year's experience and had been reprimanded for at least one driving error.
Officials say at least 458 people were injured in the crash.
Meanwhile, a minor train crash occurred for the second time in two days Wednesday when a car broke through a rail crossing barrier and crashed into a moving passenger train. The driver of the car was seriously injured, but none of the train's passengers were hurt.
