Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez used his speech before the United Nations World Summit Thursday to lash out at the United States, saying the world body should move out of New York because of the war in Iraq.
President Chavez told the leaders gathered for the summit Thursday that there were never weapons of mass destruction in Iraq but that the United States still bombed the country. He accused the United States of failing to respect the resolutions of the United Nations, and later characterized the United States as a "terrorist state" during a press conference.
The United States has had tense relations with the Chavez government. The Venezuelan leader has repeatedly accused the United States of trying to topple his government, a charge Washington has denied.
