Actor Owen Wilson Hospitalized in Good Condition

update

Owen Wilson was reported in good condition on August 27, one day after being transported to the hospital by ambulance from his Southern California home.

The 38-year-old actor was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to hospital spokeswoman Cynthia Harding. He was initially taken to St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica.

In a statement released through publicist Ina Treciokas, Wilson said "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time." She said no further comments were expected. It was not known why Wilson was hospitalized.

A neighbor said a police car, fire truck, and ambulance parked outside the actor's gated home about noon on August 26. Geoffry White, 61, who lives directly across the street, said "these guys were kind of taking their time taking a stretcher out of the ambulance, then they went into the house."

The "National Enquirer" web site was reporting that sources told the "Enquirer" and "Star" that Wilson sliced his wrist and took pills in a suicide attempt.

Santa Monica Fire Battalion Chief Jose Torres said on August 27 that the department responded to a call involving Wilson. Citing federal privacy laws, the chief wouldn't comment on Wilson's injuries or condition.

A successful comedic actor and writer, Owen Wilson's credits include Wedding Crashers, and You, Me, and Dupree. He was nominated for a 2002 screenwriting Oscar for The Royal Tenenbaums.
