Israeli troops are expected to resume operations Sunday, to remove Jewish settlers refusing to leave the Gaza Strip.
The evacuation was put on hold during the Jewish sabbath on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas signed a decree taking control of land and assets from Israelis leaving Gaza and parts of the West Bank.
Speaking in Gaza Saturday, Mr. Abbas promised to build new housing on the land, and said he has named a panel to hear claims from Palestinians who owned property before the Israeli occupation began in 1967.
Mr. Abbas also announced parliamentary elections will take place January 25.
The elections are expected to include candidates from the militant Islamic group Hamas, which has vowed to continue fighting Israelis to gain control over occupied territories.
