The team includes the head of the Economic Community of West African States Mohamed Ibn Chambas and the foreign minister of Niger, Aichatou Mindaoudou. They are expected to meet with Togolese ruling party officials, as well as members of the opposition.
At least 22 people died and 100 others were injured in street clashes earlier this week. The violence broke out Tuesday, moments after election officials announced that Faure Gnassingbe, the son of the country's longtime ruler, won presidential elections on Sunday.
Mr. Gnassingbe's defeated rival, Emmanuel Akitani-Bob, has claimed the election was rigged and declared himself president.
The rioting has now largely subsided.
