Lebanon's Hariri Proposes Cabinet Line-Up

Lebanon's Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri has given the president a proposed Cabinet line-up for a new national unity government.

Mr. Hariri said Monday that he asked President Michel Suleiman to approve a 30-seat Cabinet based on a 15-10-5 division.

The prime minister-designate says his own "March 14" alliance should get 15 of the 30 seats. The Hezbollah-led opposition would get 10 seats, and the president would appoint the other five ministers.

Opposition leaders say they have not agreed to the proposal.

Shortly after Mr. Hariri's announcement, Christian leader and Hezbollah ally Michel Aoun accused the prime minister-designate of not being serious about forming a government. He said Mr. Hariri simply "wants to play with the Cabinet according to his mood."

Mr. Hariri has been trying to put together a Cabinet since he was named prime minister in late June, but politicians have disagreed about the distribution of key posts.
