Costa Rican officials say President Oscar Arias will resume his normal routine Tuesday following a bout with the H1N1 swine flu virus.
A spokesman for Mr. Arias said Monday that the president's schedule will include the inauguration of a biotechnology plant.
Mr. Arias suspended his public schedule and worked from home after contracting a mild case of swine flu last week. The president, who suffers from asthma, was quarantined at home.
The World Health Organization has declared the swine flu outbreak a pandemic and says as many as two billion people may eventually become infected.
Mr. Arias noted the pandemic makes no distinctions, saying that he was just one more case in Costa Rica.
Mr. Arias won the Nobel Peace prize in 1987 for his efforts to end the armed conflicts in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala during the 1980's. He has also been involved in mediation efforts to resolve the political crisis in Honduras stemming from the ouster of President Manuel Zelaya.
