Iran says it will prosecute officials responsible for the harsh treatment of detainees at a detention center that held election protesters.
State-controlled media cited a statement from Iran's National Security Council saying "all guilty parties," including high-ranking officials, will be "relieved of their responsibilities."
Last month, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei ordered the Kahrizak prison closed because of rights violations there.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for a commission assessing the treatment of Iranian detainees has resigned.
According to Press TV, Kazem Jalali denied previous media reports that he resigned because his commission was facing obstacles to conducting its investigations. However, he did not provide a detailed explanation for stepping down.
Hundreds of Iranians were detained during the post-election protests that erupted after the disputed June 12 presidential election.
On Saturday, about 100 protesters were brought into a Tehran courtroom for a mass trial. They are accused of conspiring against the ruling system, among other charges.
