Former Chinese Communist Party senior official Bao Tong is calling for an official reassessment of the bloody crackdown on demonstrators in Tiananmen Square that took place on June 4, 1989. Bao is the highest-ranking person to have been jailed for his perceived sympathy at the time to the student demonstrators.
