Iraqi police say bombs and shootings killed 14 people Monday, including pilgrims on their way home from Arbain religious rites in the Shi'ite holy city of Karbala in central Iraq.
In the first attack Monday morning, officials say four people were killed and 11 others wounded when their minibus hit a bomb in Baghdad's Sadr City district.
In an almost identical attack hours later, another roadside bomb blasted a minibus in Baghdad's Kamaliya neighborhood, killing four Shi'ite pilgrims and wounding 13.
In the northern city of Mosul Monday, two civilians were gunned down and an Iraqi soldier died in a roadside bombing.
And, in the southern city of Amarah, at least three teenagers were killed and seven others wounded in a blast as they played football.
At least 60 people were killed in bombings last week as pilgrims headed to Karbala. Some Sunni Islamist groups regard Shi'ites as heretics, and have attacked Iraqi Shi'ite pilgrims in the past.
