Military officials in Guinea said the military leaders who seized power last month have arrested three of their own officers, accusing them of plotting against the military regime.
The officials said junta leader Moussa Dadis Camara ordered the arrests after one of the officers demanded the release of several other officers who were close to the late president, Lansana Conte.
One of the newly detained officers, Colonel Aboubacar Sidiki Camara, had been recently sworn in as a member of the West African nation's new military-led government.
Junior army officers seized control of the country on December 23 after the death of long-time leader Conte.
Both the African Union and the ECOWAS bloc of West African nations have suspended Guinea because of the coup.
