Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has threatened to break off power sharing talks if opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai declines a deal in their next meeting.
The state media quoted Mr. Mugabe Sunday as saying "either they accept or it's a break."
The two men are scheduled to meet Monday.
Tsvangirai, the leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change, signed a power-sharing pact with Mr. Mugabe in September. But the pact has not been implemented because of disagreements over key Cabinet posts.
Mr. Mugabe finished second to Tsvangirai in the presidential vote in March. But Mr. Mugabe's government said neither candidate won an absolute majority and called for a run-off in June. Tsvangirai pulled out of the run-off poll, saying scores of his supporters had been killed.
Zimbabwe is in the middle of deep economic turmoil and a devastating humanitarian crisis. Cholera deaths have surged past 2,200 and the country's inflation rate is the world's highest at 231 million percent.
Meanwhile, Britain's Sunday Times says Mr. Mugabe's wife, Grace, assaulted one of its photographers in Hong Kong, where she is vacationing.
The Times says the photographer suffered cuts and bruises to his face after being hit repeatedly with Mrs. Mugabe's "heavy, diamond-encrusted rings."
