Asian stock markets closed higher Tuesday, with the key market in Tokyo rising more than five percent.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 413 points, to close at 8,324 points.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, rose more than 3 percent (421 points), to finish at 12,879.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Taipei, Seoul, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta and Wellington. Stocks closed lower in Shanghai and Mumbai.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 95.84 yen, down 1.5 yen from late Monday.
Gold was trading at $808.95 an ounce.
