Pakistani police say seven people have been killed in clashes between supporters and opponents of President Pervez Musharraf in the southern city of Karachi.
Cars and buildings were burned in Wednesday's violence, which involved rival groups of lawyers.
Police say they recovered five charred bodies from a building set on fire. Authorities say two other people were shot dead.
The clashes came a day after a crowd of anti-Musharraf lawyers attacked a former government minister and ally of President Musharraf, Sher Afgan Niazi, in the eastern city of Lahore.
Today's violence was the worst since President Musharraf swore in a new government comprised of his political opponents late last month.
The new government has said it will remove the president's powers to dissolve parliament, and will reinstate top judges fired by Mr. Musharraf under emergency rule last year.
Twenty-four cabinet members took the oath of office on March 31, six weeks after opposition parties defeated Mr. Musharraf's allies in parliamentary elections.
