Pakistani authorities say one person has been killed and more than 12 wounded in a suicide bomb attack Saturday in northwestern Pakistan.
Authorities say the bomber rammed his car into another vehicle carrying security forces near the town of Khar, the main town in the tribal district of Bajaur. The attack comes a day after at least 40 people were killed and more than 60 others wounded by a suicide bombing in the region's volatile Swat Valley.
Friday's attack occurred during a funeral procession for a police officer killed earlier in the day in a roadside blast. At least two other policemen were also killed in the explosion.
Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, which borders Afghanistan, has been the scene of deadly clashes between government forces and Islamist militants who have gained a foothold there.
Pakistan's military said earlier this week that security forces had cleared some 90 percent of the Swat Valley of Islamist militants after months of fighting.
Major General Nasser Janjua said only pockets of resistance remain. He said the militants have taken to the mountains and expressed hope that those areas will be taken back soon.
But hardline cleric leader Mullah Fazlullah, who has called for a holy war against the government, remains at large.
