Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has vowed to avenge the assassination of his top commander, accusing Israel of carrying out the killing and seeking a new war with the Shi'ite militant group.
Nasrallah spoke to thousands Friday at a rally in the southern part of Lebanon's capital, Beirut, commemorating the deaths of senior commander Imad Mughniyeh and other Hezbollah leaders. Nasrallah again threatened to strike Israel with rocket fire if Israel attacked Lebanon.
Israel welcomed Mughniyeh's death, but denied responsibility for the car bombing that killed him in Damascus, Syria on February 12.
Last week, Nasrallah threatened Israel with "open war" after Mughniyeh's killing.
The declaration prompted Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to issues warnings to their citizens traveling in Lebanon.
France also closed two cultural centers in the country.
Mughniyeh was one of the world's most wanted terrorists.
He was implicated in deadly attacks on Western and Israeli targets in the 1980s and 1990s.
