Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has taken three wickets to help limit India to 297-6 at stumps on the first day of the third test in Perth, Australia.
After winning the toss Wednesday and batting first, India charged out to 177-2 heading into the final session. Rahul Dravid anchored the Indian innings with a 93 and combined for a century stand with Sachin Tendulkar (71).
Tendulkar looked on course for another test century against Australia, but his innings was cut short by a contentious umpiring decision. The Indian batsman was judged out lbw despite being on the front foot and the ball hitting him above the knee roll.
Australia battled back to claim four wickets for 85 runs to revive its hopes of becoming the first team to ever win 17 straight tests. Brett Lee was Australia's top bowler, at 3-64.
Australia already leads the four match series, 2-0. The fourth test starts at Adelaide January 24th.
