Authorities in Pakistan have imposed a curfew in parts of North West Frontier Province, where military forces are battling militants loyal to a pro-Taliban cleric.
Officials say the measure will go into effect Tuesday at midnight throughout the Swat Valley and neighboring areas. It will last until Wednesday morning at 5AM local time.
The curfew was announced hours after army helicopters attacked suspected militant positions in Swat, killing four militants and destroying an ammunition dump.
Military officials say security forces also captured another five suspected militants, including one Afghan citizen.
Followers of the pro-Taliban cleric, Maulana Fazlullah, have recently seized control of several towns in Swat.
Last month, the army sent 2,500 troops to the scenic tourist area to combat the growing militancy.
