Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra swept the major categories at the eighth annual Latin Grammy awards Thursday night in the southwestern U.S. city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Guerra took home the Album of the Year award for his collection "La Llave De Mi Corazon," as well as Grammys for Record and Song of the Year - for the song of the same name.
Guerra also was named Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy for his career achievements.
Latin superstar Ricky Martin won for Best Male Pop Vocal Album for his "MTV Unplugged" album, as well as best long form music video for the same performance. Laura Pausini won the Best Female Pop Vocal Album prize for "Yo Canto".
Puerto Rican group Calle 13 won Grammys for Best Urban Music Album for "Residente O Visitante" and Best Urban Song "Pal Norte".
Mexican siblings Jesse and Joy took home the Best New Artist award.
The Mexican-based Spanish group La Quinta Estacion won the Best Group Pop Vocal Album for "El Mundo Se Equivoca".
