Leaders of the two major coalition partners in the Sudanese government of national unity met in the capital Khartoum last week to resolve a stalemate surrounding participation, in the government, by the Sudanese people’s liberation movement (SPLM).
Andebrahan Giorgis is senior advisor to the Africa Program of the International Crisis Group. Nightline’s Akwei Thompson asked him about the outcome of the meeting.
Giorgis said an agreement, which had not been agreed on, was reached among members of the SPLM in the cabinet of the unity government. He said “there are still outstanding issues like the demarcation of the Abyei region….”
