Actor Owen Wilson Pulls Out of Upcoming Movie Deal

update

Owen Wilson has pulled out of his upcoming movie with Ben Stiller while he recovers from a reported suicide attempt.

Variety reports the 38-year-old actor has dropped out of Tropic Thunder, a DreamWorks comedy he was set to begin shooting in two to three weeks. The trade paper states Wilson's role would require a week's worth of filming. Stiller, who is producing and starring in the film, began shooting six weeks ago in Hawaii.

The report states both Wilson and Stiller agreed on the decision, and it is not known whether Wilson will be replaced or his role dropped from the script.

Tropic Thunder involves a group of actors filming a war movie who find themselves caught up in a real-life conflict. The comedy also stars Jack Black, Robert Downey, Jr., and Nick Nolte.

Owen Wilson is currently in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after being taken there on August 26. He has issued one statement asking to be given privacy to "heal."

Neither DreamWorks nor Wilson's representatives have commented on the casting development.
