Nicole Richie has served her time - all 82 minutes' worth.
The reality show star checked into a detention facility in suburban Lynwood, California at 3:15 p.m. on August 23. She was released at 4:37 p.m., "based on her sentence and federal guidelines," according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Maribel Rizo.
When asked whether Richie, who is four months' pregnant, spent her sentence in a jail cell, Rizo had no further comment.
The 25-year-old adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie was arrested on December 11, 2006, after witnesses reported seeing her black Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle heading the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank. The California Highway Patrol said she was found parked in the car-pool lane. A CHP officer said Richie told police she had smoked marijuana and taken the painkiller Vicodin.
Her plea deal helped her avoid a potential year-long jail sentence.
This was Richie's second impaired driving offence, following a 2003 conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Richie had the option of serving 90 hours in either a Los Angeles city jail or county facility. She would have had to serve the full sentence had she chosen a city jail.
