Iraqi officials say seven people have been killed in mortar attacks north of Baghdad.
Authorities say a barrage of mortars fell in a market and on homes in the town of Khalis Saturday. Officials say a baby is among those killed. At least 18 people were wounded.
In other news, the U.S. military says coalition forces killed two terrorists in operations targeting al-Qaida in Iraq leaders and the group's bombing network. The military says 16 suspects were detained in raids in central and northern Iraq.
Separately, in the northern oil city of Kirkuk, Iraqi police say bomb blasts Friday killed four people and wounded 34 others.
Earlier, multiple truck bombs in northern Iraq leveled several blocks of two Kurdish-speaking communities near the Syrian border, killing at least 400 people. The attacks Tuesday targeted the minority Yazidi sect.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was in the city of Tikrit Friday seeking support for a newly-created political alliance. The alliance, formed by Iraqi Shi'ite and Kurdish lawmakers, does not include Sunni Arabs.
