Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he is not worried by multi-billion-dollar U.S. arms sales in the Middle East.
Iranian news agencies Friday quoted Mr. Ahmadinejad as saying the United States is trying to create divisions between what he called Iran's "brothers" in the region.
This week, the United States announced a $20 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia and other Arab states in the Persian Gulf region.
U.S. Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns said the sale of U.S. weaponry would serve, in part, as a deterrence to what he called "Iranian expansionism and Iranian aggression in the future."
U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates wrapped up a Middle East tour on Thursday, and called on countries to increase pressure on Iran to give up its alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons.
The U.S. also announced plans this week to supply $30 billions in military assistance to Israel, and a $13 billion package for Egypt.
