Australian police are denying media reports that an Indian doctor allegedly linked to a foiled terrorist attack in Britain may also have been plotting to blow up an Australian building.
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty dismissed the reports as "inaccurate" and said he would contact Dr. Mohamed Haneef's lawyers to correct the record.
Melbourne's Herald Sun and other newspapers Sunday said police found images in Haneef's Queensland home of a nearby building and its foundations.
Haneef's lawyers accuse the government of leaking damaging information to the media to hurt their client's reputation because the legal case against him is weak.
Australian police arrested and charged Haneef earlier this month with supporting the suspects of a failed car-bomb attack on the Glasgow airport in June.
He has denied having advance knowledge of the plot.
Two of Haneef's second cousins, Kafeel and Sabeel Ahmed, have been charged in connection with the attack.
An Australian court granted Haneef bail, but immigration officials have revoked his work visa and are keeping him in custody.
Haneef's lawyers say the government's decision to revoke his visa was politically motivated.
