Astronomers say they have found the first conclusive evidence of water outside our own solar system.
The scientists say they have found evidence of water vapor in the atmosphere of a giant planet, called HD 18933b, more than 60 light-years away.
One of the authors of the report, Giovanna Tinetti, a European Space Agency fellow, says the scientists are thrilled to have identified clear signs of water on a planet that is trillions of kilometers away.
The findings are published in Thursday's edition of the journal Nature.
The astronomers say the planet is unlikely to support life as we know it.
It belongs to a classification of planets outside our solar system known as 'hot Jupiters' and has an atmospheric temperature of more than 700 degrees Celsius.
