Iranian officials say a team from the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency will visit Tehran in coming days to resolve outstanding issues over Iran's nuclear program.
Iranian ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency Ali Asghar Soltanieh says a team led by the agency's Deputy Director Olli Heinonen will be in Tehran from July 11 to July 13.
Soltanieh says the team will not inspect Iranian nuclear facilities, but will instead examine a "work plan" to address issues concerning Iran's nuclear program.
Members of the U.N. Security Council are discussing additional sanctions against Iran for its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment, a process that can be used to build nuclear weapons.
The council has already imposed two rounds of limited sanctions on Iran.
On Monday, the IAEA announced Iran's invitation but did not establish a date. Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, issued the invitation last week during talks with agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei.
The United States and its allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear program is for the peaceful production of energy.
