Suicide Fuel Truck Bomber Kills 10 in Baiji, Iraq

Iraqi authorities say a suicide bomber driving a fuel tanker has killed at least 10 people in an attack on police headquarters in the city of Baiji.

Authorities say at least 18 others were wounded by the blast in the northern town.

Earlier Monday, a suicide car bomber killed eight people and wounded 25 in an attack on the governor's offices in Hillah, a predominantly Shi'ite city, south of Baghdad.

On Sunday, coalition forces killed four terrorists and detained 14 suspected insurgents in raids in Baghdad and north of the capital.

Also Sunday, Iraq's High Tribunal sentenced Saddam Hussein's cousin, known as "Chemical Ali," to death by hanging for his role in the 1980s scorched-earth campaign against Kurds.

The court found Ali Hassan al-Majid guilty of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

In other news, two Sunni Arab political blocs boycotted parliament Sunday, saying they will not return until the ousted Sunni speaker, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, is reinstated.

And the U.S. military announced the deaths Saturday of 11 troops in and around Baghdad. At least 71 U.S. service members have died in Iraq in June.
