Authorities in Trinidad and Tobago say a fourth suspect has surrendered in a terror plot to blow up New York City's John F. Kennedy Airport.
Police say Abdel Nur of Guyana surrendered Tuesday in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. He was the only suspect still at large after the plot was uncovered last week. His picture - that of a thin, older man with a long beard - was issued to news media.
Authorities say four men, including a former airport employee, had planned to blow up the airport by targeting the facility's enormous fuel tanks.
The other three suspects were arrested Friday and Saturday, one in New York City and the others in Trinidad.
Three of the suspects are from Guyana, the other from Trinidad. The former airport employee is a naturalized U.S. citizen.
Engineers say if the plot had been carried out, it would likely have destroyed the entire airport. But authorities say the plot never went beyond the early planning stage, and the public was never in imminent danger.
Federal law enforcement officials had been tracking the plot through an informant since January 2006. Authorities say one of the suspects unwittingly bragged to the informant that he believed the airport attack would be worse than the attacks of September 11, 2001, that destroyed the World Trade Center's twin towers.
