Angelina Jolie says she plans to take a year's break from filmmaking to spend more time with her family.
Appearing at the Cannes Film Festival, the 31-year-old actress said she will go on break after she finishes shooting the thriller Wanted in Prague, Czech Republic.
Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, 43, have four children: five-year-old Cambodian adoptee Maddox; three-year-old Pax Thien, from Vietnam; two-year-old Zahara, from Ethiopia; and their 11-month-old biological daughter Shiloh.
Jolie and Pitt are in Cannes to promote A Mighty Heart, in which Jolie portrays Mariane Pearl, widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Pearl was abducted and beheaded by Muslim militants in 2002.
Jolie says she and Mariane Pearl are friends, and she felt a responsibility to correctly depict her story.
Speaking about the risks of traveling to dangerous parts of the globe, Jolie said "I don't want to live inside a box. I will be smart, but I will lead a very bold life and I will learn about the world."
