Zimbabwe's civic groups have demanded to be included in South Africa’s mediation efforts between the ruling party ZANU-PF party, and the opposition Movement for Democratic Change.
The Save Zimbabwe Campaign – a coalition of civic and opposition groups – said it planned to present its plan to interested parties in the country and members of the regional and international community, in a document to be released next week titled: ‘’The Save Zimbabwe Campaign Position on Dialogue.’’
Leaders of the Southern African Development Community, in March, mandated South African President Mbeki to mediate talks between the ruling ZANU-PF party and the opposition, so at to try to resolve the country’s ongoing crisis.
Save Zimbabwe Campaign spokesman, Jonah Gokovah, told reporter Patience Rusere of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe, that civic society groups should be included in the discussions, because they've played a big role in trying to resolve the current political impasse.
