Chinese state media say a flood in a coal mine in northeastern China has killed 22 miners.
The Xinhua news agency reports Sunday that seven other miners are missing. The accident took place Saturday night at a state-owned mine in Fushan, an industrial city in Liaoning province.
Rescue operations are under way.
Xinhua says the mine is considered one of the 45 most dangerous coal mines the country.
China's mining industry is one of the most dangerous in the world. Last year, nearly 5,000 people died in accidents, an average of 13 deaths a day.
