Indonesia has reported another fatal human case of bird flu.
The Ministry of Health announced Monday that a six year old girl from Central Java's Magelang district died January 19. An initial investigation blames the death on exposure to dead poultry.
Also Monday, authorities in Russia reported that country's first bird flu cases of the year in dead birds on three farms in the southern Krasnodar region.
Officials in Hungary say they have slaughtered more than 9,000 newly-hatched geese in a southern village where bird flu was found last week.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization says tests are negative on 14 Nigerians suspected of having bird flu. Three of the tests were carried out on women who died from bird-flu like symptoms.
The H5N1 bird flu strain has killed 164 people since 2003. Victims can only catch it through contact with sick birds. But some scientists fear H5N1 could mutate into a strain easily spread by humans and kill millions.
