Iraqi officials say at least 34 people have been killed in separate suicide car bombings south of Baghdad.
One bomber blew up his car Thursday outside a hospital in the town of Mahmoudiya, killing 30 people and injuring dozens more, including four American soldiers.
At least four people died in another attack near shops in the town of Hilla.
Elsewhere, the U.S. military reported that a roadside bomb killed two soldiers near Baghdad, and three others died of gunshot wounds Wednesday.
In Baghdad, defense lawyers in the trial of Saddam Hussein said they would attend a hearing Monday, despite an earlier threat to boycott the proceedings after two fellow attorneys were killed.
Attorney Issam Ghazawi said the defense team would appear to prevent the court from naming new counsel. He added that all of the team's security concerns had not been resolved yet.
Wednesday, a U.S. official said the lawyers had accepted offers from Iraq's government for improved security.
