China says it plans to issue its first ever white paper on the country's political democracy.
China's official Xinhua news agency said Tuesday that the Information Office of China's State Council will issue the document Wednesday.
The announcement said the white paper will give a detailed account of the "inception, development, contents and principles of the country's political democracy."
Xinhua said the document will also mention the problems Beijing faces in building democracy.
International rights organizations and several countries, including the United States, have criticized Beijing for not speeding the pace of political reform.
China rejects the criticism, saying internal affairs should be handled by China's government and citizens, not outsiders.
