U.S. defense officials say the Army reached recruiting goals for a second straight month in July - but the service may still fall short of its annual goals.
A spokesman says though active duty Army recruitment was up last month, the Army National Guard and Army Reserve continued to fall short of recruiting goals.
The U.S. Army recently increased its number of recruiters, as polls indicated that young people are wary of joining the U.S. military because of the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Last month, the Pentagon petitioned the U.S. Congress to raise the maximum age for military recruits from 35 to 42-years-old - a move that would widen the pool of possible military enlistees.
