Iran says it could resume sensitive nuclear activities as soon as Monday after failing to receive a new European proposal to abandon certain nuclear technologies.
Iranian officials said Sunday they would start uranium conversion work at Isfahan if the European Union did not submit a new offer.
But Britain, which has been negotiating with Iran along with France and Germany, says the new proposals will be ready later this week. British officials urged Iran not to take any steps that could jeopardize the talks over its nuclear program.
Iran agreed to suspend uranium conversion and enrichment under international pressure last November. The European Union has been working on a package of economic and political incentives in exchange for Iran permanently suspending its uranium-enrichment activities.
The United States has accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons. Tehran says its nuclear program has strictly peaceful intentions.
