UN Prosecutors Seek to Enter New Evidence Against Milosevic

Prosecutors at the United Nations war crimes tribunal in The Hague are seeking to reopen their case against former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic to enter new evidence against him.

Documents disclosed Wednesday, show that prosecutors are seeking to enter as prosecution evidence a videotape showing members of a paramilitary unit of the Serbian Interior Ministry, the Scorpions, killing six Bosnian Muslim men. The prosecution, which has already shown the tape during cross examination, says the six were among the 8,000 people killed in the Srebrenica massacre.

Prosecutors are also seeking permission to question six additional witnesses, who they say could tie Mr. Milosevic closer to the Srebrenica events.

The prosecution officially closed its case in February of last year. Mr. Milosevic is now presenting his defense against more than 60 counts of war crimes related to the Balkan conflicts of the 1990s.
