President Bush has made his choice to replace Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the U.S. Supreme Court. Formal announcement will come in a nationally broadcast address to the nation late Tuesday.
Supreme Court rulings can affect just about every facet of life in the United States. And as a result, there is keen interest in the president's pick.

"I guess the best way to put it is, I'll let you know when I'm ready to tell you who it is," Mr. Bush said.
But a short time later, word came that the president was ready to make an announcement. The name most mentioned is U.S. appeals court Judge Edith Brown Clement. She won easy Senate confirmation for her appeals seat, and is seen by some as a moderate conservative, much like retiring Justice O'Connor.
