Clinton to Push AIDS Initiative on African Tour

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton will tour Africa next week to boost support for the continent's battle against AIDS.

Mr. Clinton will travel to Mozambique, Lesotho, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda.

The head of the Clinton Foundation AIDS Initiative told the French news agency that Mr. Clinton plans to meet with political and religious leaders throughout his tour in an effort to break down lingering resistance to expanding AIDS initiatives.

While in South Africa, Mr. Clinton will also celebrate the 87th birthday of former President Nelson Mandela.

His travels follow an African tour by U.S. First Lady Laura Bush, who is also highlighting the efforts to combat AIDS. This week, Mrs. Bush is visiting South Africa, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
