The United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution condemning the bombings in London.
The unanimous vote came Thursday during an emergency meeting of the 15-member council, on which Britain holds a permanent seat.
The measure expresses condolences for the British people and the victims of the four bombings in London. It says any act of terrorism threatens peace and security.
Similar resolutions of condemnation were passed following the Madrid train bombings in 2004, and the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, now in Scotland, joined leaders from the Group of Eight Industrialized nations in strongly condemning the London attacks.
