Report: Indonesia on Alert for Bomb-Carrying Cars

Indonesian soldiers reportedly are searching for five cars believed to be carrying bombs constructed by a group linked to the al-Qaida terror network.

The Koran Tempo daily says Monday troops are on alert in the Indraymayu district of West Java province. They are searching for bombs reportedly built by Noordin Mohamed Top, a member of the regional terror group Jemaah Islamiyah.

The newspaper says the Indonesian military has distributed a telegram giving details of the bomb-carrying cars, including their makes and license numbers.

Military officials did not issue any immediate comment on the Koran Tempo report.

Today's developments follow warnings by Australian and American government officials that terrorists in Indonesia are preparing to launch more attacks.
