U.S. troops in Iraq have found an elaborate insurgent hideaway under an old rock quarry in Anbar province.
Military officials said Saturday they discovered the abandoned hiding place last Thursday north of the town of Karmah.
They describe it as a complex bunker with fully furnished rooms, a kitchen stocked with fresh food, two showers, and an air conditioner.
Troops found it while searching for insurgents in Anbar province, a Sunni insurgent stronghold.
U.S. military officials also said Saturday troops in Anbar seized 50 weapons caches hidden near the bunkers and a separate large stash of weapons south of Baghdad.
Officials also report finding 30 artifacts looted from the Baghdad Museum in 2003. The pieces were found during a raid in the Kharkh peninsula.
