Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf says a top al-Qaida operative arrested in Pakistan is being handed over to the United States.
General Musharraf told CNN late Tuesday that Pakistan has extracted all that it can from al-Qaida's alleged number three man, Abu Faraj al-Libbi, who was captured earlier this month.
Pakistan alleges Mr. al-Libbi was the mastermind of two attempts on General Musharraf's life. The Pakistani leader said Mr. al-Libbi had not given interrogators any clues on the whereabouts of al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden.
U.S. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Washington was talking to Pakistan about Mr. al-Libbi but had not yet discussed his extradition.
Separately, courts in the U.S. states of New York and Florida have denied bail to two men whom authorities arrested last week on suspicion of offering support to al-Qaida.
