Eight US Troops Killed, Zarqawi Said Wounded

Al-Qaida in Iraq says its leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has been injured, and the group called on Muslims to pray for his recovery.

The message appeared Tuesday on the militant group's website, but its authenticity could not be immediately verified. A U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad said he had no information on the website posting.

The statement did not say where or when Iraq's most wanted terrorist was wounded, but last week, there were reports that Zarqawi was injured and had briefly been sighted at a hospital in the western city of Ramadi.

Meanwhile, car bomb explosions in central Baghdad killed two civilians and three U.S. soldiers. And the U.S. military says a roadside bomb blast south of Baghdad killed four American soldiers on Monday.
