Romania says three Romanian journalists and their Iraqi guide, kidnapped nearly two months in Baghdad, have been freed.
Details were not immediately clear. But a statement Sunday from the Romanian presidency said the reporters are safe and will soon return home.
The reporters and driver were seized March 28. The kidnappers threatened to kill them unless Romania withdrew its small military contingent from Iraq by April 27. Romanian President Traian Basescu rejected the demand.
Meanwhile, gunmen today killed the director-general of Iraq's Trade Ministry, Ali Mousa Salman, as he was driving to work in Baghdad. His driver also was killed
