Iraqi PM to Discuss Insurgent Infiltrations with Syria

Iraq PM Ibrahim al-Jaafari
Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari says he will send a delegation to Syria soon to seek help in stopping what he said is infiltration by insurgents crossing from Syria into Iraq.

Syria has repeatedly denied charges it is helping the insurgents and says it is cooperating with Baghdad and Washington to stop such infiltrations.

Earlier Friday, Mr. al-Jaafari, who is visiting Ankara, met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two leaders were expected to discuss security and economic issues.

Meanwhile, in Iraq, Sunni clerics called for mosques to close for three days to protest what they say are the killings of Sunni preachers by Shi'ite militia members.

And in southern Iraq, radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr called thousands to protest the U.S.-led occupation. Protesters painted American and Israeli flags on the ground and stomped on them as they entered mosques.
